Shinagawa Municipal Environment Learning Exchange Facility: ECORU Togoshi


ECORU Togoshi is a municipal facility where you can learn about the environment, attend exchange programs and more. The facility, which opened in May within Togoshi Park, offers visual exhibits that simulate the relationship between how we live and the natural environment, as well as hands-on permanent exhibits that emphasize the senses of sight, hearing and touch. In addition, the facility conducts various events and classes so that visitors can enjoy learning about the environment. ECORU Togoshi also has a community lounge, kids space and rental rooms, allowing city residents and those at the park to use the facility as a place to relax and enjoy friendly exchanges.

● Video Exhibit and Permanent Exhibit

You can learn about the environment while experiencing its closeness through a large-scale simulated exhibit on the relationship between you and the environment, and a permanent exhibit that emphasizes the senses of sight, hearing and touch.

● Message Exhibit
This hands-on exhibit lets you express your feelings about what you see in simple ways, such as messages and drawings.

● Multipurpose Space
This space hosts events and classes for everyone from children to adults to bring us all closer to nature.

First Metropolitan Area Public Facility to Acquire “Nearly ZEB*” Ranking

The “ZEB” ranking has four levels, and ECORU Togoshi has received the next-to-the-top rank of “Nearly ZEB” —the first public facility in the metropolitan area to obtain it. ECORU Togoshi is expected to reduce energy consumption by 91 percent.

* ZEB (net zero energy building) refers to a building that combines energy conservation and energy generation to keep the annual amount of preliminary energy consumption at net zero while still maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.

Location: 2-1-30 Yutakacho (within Togoshi Park)
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Note: The exhibition rooms, garden deck and kids space are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Closed: Fourth Monday of the month (if that day is a national holiday, then closed the following day) and during the yearend/New Year’s holidays.
Access: About a 7-minute walk from Togoshi-koen Station and Shimo-shinmei Station, a 12-minute walk from Togoshi Station, and a 15-minute walk from Togoshi-Ginza Station.
