General Gymnasium

In this issue, we will introduce a sports facility called the General Gymnasium, which is an ideal place for sports and healthy activities and anyone from children to adults can use. Exercise on a regular basis and stay healthy!

Enjoy Any Sport or Activity You Like!

The General Gymnasium offers a “free use” program for city residents that allows you to enjoy any sport or activity you like with just a small admission fee. You can participate in selected sports on the designated days and times. Just check the program schedule, buy an admission ticket and join in sports you wish to play. (Not available on national holidays.)

How to Use This Program
First-Time Users
Please register for a “free use” member card. To register, you must show documentation to prove that you live, work or go to school in Shinagawa City such as a driver’s license, student ID or health insurance card.
Admission Fees (per session)
Adult (high school student or older): 200 yen
Child (junior high school student or younger): 100 yen
Note: Available hours for elementary schoolers: until 6:30 p.m.; for junior high schoolers: until 8:00 p.m.
Locker: 10 yen
Note: Free of charge for those who live in Shinagawa City and have a disability, or are seventy years of age or older.
What to Bring
Clothes for sports, indoor gym shoes, equipment (such as rackets and balls)

One-Point Lesson Free of Charge!

You can get a one-point lesson from an instructor free of charge. Since instructors are available for each sport and session, even beginners can relax and enjoy playing. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask the instructor nearest you!

Reception Desk
Please complete the designated admission procedures here. If this is your first time to try the “free use” or “free jogging” program, you will need to register, so please speak with the staff.

Hino Gakuen Heated Pool

This indoor heated pool is equipped with six 25-meter lanes, so you can swim all year round. Registration is not required, and anyone can use the pool. Please visit the website for information on the hours and fees.

Ping-Pong/Recreation Room
You can use this room for various forms of recreation and exercise such as ping-pong, folk dancing and stretching. The floors are made of material that is ideal for ballroom dancing.

Training Room
This room is equipped with wall mirrors and dance barres, making it a great place to enjoy aerobics and dancing.
Note: The training room will be unavailable in October and November due to renovations.

Arena
The arena can be configured for up two basketball courts and three volleyball courts, and has stands for spectators that allow a view of everything.

Judo/Kendo Room
You can use this area for judo, kendo, aikido and karate


 

Staff Recommendation Free Jogging


The area along the Meguro River and Tennozu Canal that flow near the General Gymnasium are ideal walking and jogging spots set along waterfronts and natural greenery. You can use the gym’s locker rooms and showers until 8:30 p.m. Please try this service.

How to use this service: First-time users must register first. Please bring some form of personal identification such as a driver’s license, student ID or health insurance card. Registration is free.
Eligibility: Those eighteen years of age or older who live, work or go to school in Shinagawa City.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Up to three hours per use.
Note: Closed on gymnasium holidays, national holidays, and during the yearend/New Year’s holidays.
Usage Fee: 200 yen per session
Note: An additional fee is required for using a locker.
