Shinagawa-ku International Friendship Association (SIFA) Class

1. Japanese-Language Classes for Foreign Residents (Total of twenty classes)
Dates and time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from April 17 through June 28, excluding May 1 and 3.
Morning class: 10:00 a.m. to noon
Afternoon class: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Evening class: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Courses:
• Part I—For those learning Japanese for the first time:
Morning, afternoon and evening classes
• Part II—For those who have studied Japanese before and can write hiragana and katakana: Afternoon and evening classes
• Part III—For those with everyday conversational skills: Afternoon and evening classes
Location: SIFA (Dai-san Chosha 4F)
Eligibility/capacity: Eighteen foreign residents per course (on a first-paid, first-served basis)
Tuition: 7,000 yen per course (textbook fee included)
Babysitting: Preschoolers two years old and older are accepted; five children per morning, afternoon and evening class (on a first-paid, first-served basis)
Notes:
1. 5,000 yen per child
2. Children in the second grade of elementary school and younger will be accepted for the evening class.

2. Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) Class (Total of twelve classes)
Dates and time: Fridays, from April 13 through July 6, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., excluding May 4.
Location: SIFA (Dai-san Chosha 4F)
Eligibility/capacity: Twelve foreign residents and eight Japanese residents (selected by lottery)
Tuition: 16,000 yen

3. Home Cooking Class
Date and time: May 19 (Sat.), 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Curian (Civic Hall) (in front of Oimachi Station)
Program: Itarian home cooking
Eligibility/capacity: Thirty-six foreign and Japanese residents (selected by lottery)
Fee: 1,500 yen

Application/inquiry: Please fill out the application form on SIFA’s website, or send a postcard or fax by March 15 (Thu.) for ikebana class, by April 17 (Tue.) for home cooking class (must be received by these dates). Please include the name of the class you wish to join (add the course and time for Japanese-language class), your address, postal code, name with furigana, age, gender and daytime telephone number. If you go to school in Shinagawa City, please include the school name. If you work in Shinagawa City, please include the name, address and telephone number of your place of employment. If you are a foreign resident, please include your nationality.
