One Hundred Scenes of Shinagawa—Osaki area

“One Hundred Scenes of Shinagawa” were selected by city residents.

One of the Osaki area’s special characteristics is that the Meguro River flows through its center, creating various cityscapes like the quiet residential streets and the clusters of modern buildings around Osaki Station. The Meguro River area is a famous spot for cherry blossoms. You can take a leisurely stroll along the river while enjoying spring flowers or to cool down on a summer evening.

Irugi-jinja Shrine and Irukibashi Shell Mounds

(3-8 Osaki)
Irugi-jinja Shrine was relocated to its current location in the Edo Period (1603–1867) to avoid flood damage of Meguro River. Sculpture decorations are used a lot in Itsukushima-jinja Shrine which is subordinate shrine of Irugi-jinja Shrine. The Irukibashi Shell Mounds located nearby are a remnant from about 5000 to 6000 years ago, and the area is a residential area today.

Ikedayama Park

(5-4-27 Higashi-Gotanda)

The shrine was known as the guardian shrine of the former Kirigaya village. There used to be many spring waters near this site, which is located on the edge of Musashino Plateau. The spring water was depleted before, but it was restored by renovation work. Water for purifying the hands flows from the mouth of a stone dragon.
