Shinagawa Eco Festival 2017

Forming Eco Ties with Wa (Circles)! Shinagawa

Enjoy various exhibits and attractions related to ecology with family and friends while learning, thinking, talking and doing something about the environment. Let’s spread the circle of activities dealing with the environment!

Note: Will be held even in light rain
Locations: Shinagawa Chuo Park (in front of the Shinagawa City Office) and Small to Medium Sized Enterprises’ Center (1-28-3 Nishi-shinagawa)

1. Shinagawa City Office parking lots cannot be used.
2. The number of bicycle parking spaces is limited. Please use public transportation.

Program

• Environmentally friendly workshop
• Flea market
• Environment exhibition booths
• Booths selling food, drink and other products; the vendors will use environment-friendly containers, and distribute chopsticks made from domestic wood scrap and culled timber
• Main stage performances—Shinagawa Eco Festival orientation; Kankyo Sentai Eco Ranger Show; wadaiko (traditional Japanese drum) performance; Ultra Seven × Ranma-Sensei Eco Science Performance; creative bamboo instrument performance; children’s recycled clothing fashion show; Shinagawa hero “Krayverz” show; wind instrument music concert; Love & Peace Concert and more
• Attractions (dance performances, instrumental performance, air-type slide, “No Limits Challenge” [Paralympic experience program] and more)
• Electric vehicle test rides (10:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.)
• Fuel and battery-operated vehicle test drives (10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.)
• Collection of unwanted gardening soil and free distribution of recycled gardening soil


● The park site will use “green” electricity, including privately generated power from biofuel made from used oil.

Small to Medium Sized Enterprises’ Center Festival

There will be many events at this festival, such as exhibits presented by clubs that conduct activities at the Small to Medium Sized Enterprises’ Center, concerts, demonstrations of traditional crafts and various consultation corners useful to everyday life. You can also enjoy various Shinagawa food items. Please feel free to drop by!

Date and time: May 27 (Sat.) and 28 (Sun.), 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Small to Medium Sized Enterprises’ Center (1-28-3 Nishi-shinagawa)

• Exhibits featuring various types of artwork (photography, flower arrangement, pressed flower art, calligraphy, painting, seal engraving, tanka, picture postcard art and more)
• Demonstrations of traditional crafts by Shinagawa Traditional Crafts Preservation Group members: Konomi Sasahara (nihon shishu [Japanese embroidery]) and Hiroshi Kenmochi (wasai [Japanese dressmaking])
• Sales corner
• Sale of traditional Shinagawa foods, including grilled dumplings, Japanese sweets and more
• Shinagawa gift PR corner

May 27 (Sat.)
• Igo classes taught by professionals for beginners and intermediate players; 10:00 a.m. to noon
• Housing consultation corner
• Family concert (Shinagawa Classical Music Society), 1:00 to 3:45 p.m.
• Fureai Workshop products sale corner (handmade accessories and recycled bicycles; sale ends when all items are sold)

May 28 (Sun.)
• Igo classes taught by professionals for elementary school children and older; 10:00 a.m. to noon
• Knife-sharpening (up to two knives per person; reception open until 2:00 p.m.)
• Family woodcrafts class (making mosaic tiles and nameplates)
• Tea ceremony section (traditional tea ceremony)
• Sunday Concert Special (Shinagawa Classical Music Society), 1:00 to 3:45 p.m.
