Municipal Elementary and Junior High School Enrollment Procedures for Foreign Residents

Foreign residents of Shinagawa City who want to enroll their children in municipal elementary or junior high schools or compulsory education schools need to complete application procedures. Application forms will be mailed in late September to residents whose children are eligible for enrollment and who have completed resident registration. If you have not completed your resident registration but would like to enroll your children in these schools, please contact the city office.

Eligibility:
Elementary school/compulsory education school (primary education section)—Children born between April 2, 2010, and April 1, 2011
Junior high school/compulsory education school (secondary education section)—Children born between April 2, 2004, and April 1, 2005
Note: To apply for junior high school/compulsory education school (secondary education section) enrollment, your child must meet some conditions, such as having completed elementary school.
School selection application period: October 3 (Mon.) through 31 (Mon.)
Note: If you mail your application, it must be postmarked on or before October 31 (Mon.).
Health checkup: To be provided from November onward to children who will start the first grade of elementary school/compulsory education school in April
