32nd Shinagawa Disaster Prevention Fair

It has been five years since the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake. Shinagawa City holds the Disaster Prevention Fair with other organizations at this time of year to remind everyone of the disaster preparedness lessons learned from that earthquake. Why not use this opportunity to think about disaster preparedness?
On friday at 3:00 p.m., March 11, is also the reopening of the Shinagawa City Disaster Prevention Experience Hall at the 2nd floor of the Disaster Prevention Center following renovations. Center staff look forward to your visit.

Events on the 2nd and 3rd Floors of the Disaster Prevention Center (2-1-36, Hiromachi)

  • Shinagawa Disaster Prevention Experience Hall(2F)
  • Disaster prevention stamp rally (with gift)
  • Exhibition of Edo hikeshi hanten etc.(firefighting coats)

Events at City Hall No. 2 Parking Lot and Shinagawa Chuo Park

  • Fire engine ladder ride (20 pairs per session on a first-come, first-served basis)
    Reception on the 3rd floor of the Disaster Prevention Center from (1)10:00 a.m. and (2)1:00 p.m.
  • Serving of tempura udon, from 10:30 a.m. (¥100 per serving, 400 servings, while supplies last)
  • Serving of tonjiru (miso soup with pork) by the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force, from 10:30 a.m. (free, 300 servings, while supplies last)
  • Traditional demonstration by the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association’s Shinagawa Matoi Conservation Association: kiyari (working songs), matoifuri (banner waving), from 11:30 a.m.
  • Rescue demonstration by the Shinagawa Police, from 12 noon
  • Fire Rescue Task Forces (Hyper Rescue) demonstration, from 0:30 p.m.
  • Police motorcycle display
  • Exhibition on how to set up an emergency water supply system
  • Explanation of how to prevent electrical accidents from earthquakes
  • Explanation of how to restore your gas meter
  • Explanation and hands-on experience of the 171 disaster emergency message dial service
  • Earthquake-proofing consultations
  • Opening of the Shinagawa City Electrical Safety Branch Office on the day
  • Panel exhibition and knowledge quiz on consumer life
  • Sales of disaster preparedness supplies
  • Mobile earthquake simulator and mini-fire truck ride
  • (For children) Try on a miniature firefighter’s uniform There will also be other booths with themes related to disaster preparedness. Come have a look.
