Health and Sports Day Events: Come to the General Gymnasium and Experience a Host of Fun!

Date: October 12 (National holiday), 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: General Gymnasium (2-11-2 Higashi-Gotanda)

1. Special badminton event: Featuring demonstration and badminton clinic (please note that applications to participate in the clinic have closed, however, spectators are welcome). given by Fumihiko Machida, Japanese double Olympian, 1992 and 1996 (Barcelona and Atlanta).
2. Talks on their home countries and introductions/sales of hometown cuisine by representatives of embassies and consulates, etc., located in Shinagawa.
3. Stalls run by local resident associations and companies.
4. Events at a specially-constructed stage in the gymnasium's lobby area (conducted at 15 to 20-minute intervals).
Information and sporting demonstrations by groups who are members of the Shinagawa City Sports Association. A Salsa dance demonstration by Reiko Fujita, winner of a Samba Competition for Non-Brazilians.
A Double Dutch demonstration by Daimon Sugita, 2011 Double Dutch World Champion, etc.
5. Enjoyable events for parents and children such as measuring the physical strength of individuals and determining their vascular age, etc.

At the General Gymnasium and the Togoshi Gymnasium (2-1-17 Yutakacho), there will also be opportunities for individuals to freely try their hand at basketball, kendo, karate and wushu, along with numerous other events and conducted by various sports advisors.
Note: Some activities shall require that indoor footwear be worn.
