Shinagawa-ku International Friendship Association (SIFA) Classes

(1) English Conversation Class
Dates: Wednesdays, from October 26, 2011, through March 28, 2012 (total of 20 sessions)
Morning class: 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Afternoon class: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Evening class: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Courses: Step 1—For those who can understand beginning English; Step 2—For those who can converse in beginning English; Step 3—For those who can speak in everyday English
Location: SIFA
Eligibility: For each class, 18 people who live or work in Shinagawa (by lottery)
Tuition: ¥19,000 per course (textbook fee included)
Application deadline: September 29 (Thu.) (must be received by this date)

(2) Home Cooking Class
Date and time: November 26 (Sat.), 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Curian (in front of Oimachi Station)
Program: Japanese cooking
Eligibility: 18 foreign residents and 18 Japanese residents who live or work in Shinagawa (by lottery)
Fee: ¥1,000
Application deadline: October 27 (Thu.) (must be received by this date)

For the Above-Mentioned Classes
Application: For (1), send a reply-paid postcard, and for (2), send a postcard or fax to SIFA (Dai-san Chosha 4F, Shinagawa City Office, 2-1-36 Hiromachi, 140-0005; Tel: 5742-6517; Fax: 5742-6518). Please write down the name of the class you wish to join (for [1], include both the desired course and class) along with your name (with furigana), address, age, sex, and telephone number. Those who work in Shinagawa City should include the name, address, and telephone number of their places of employment. If you are a foreign resident, please include your nationality.
Note: Only one application per person is accepted.
