1. Japanese-Language Class (total of 20 classes)
Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from September 28 through December 7
Morning class: 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Afternoon class: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Evening class: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Small and Medium Enterprises’ Center (1-28-3 Nishi-Shinagawa)
Courses: Part I (for those who are learning Japanese for the first time)—morning, afternoon, and evening classes
Part II (for those who can read and write hiragana and katakana)—morning and afternoon classes
Part III (for those who know everyday conversational Japanese)—evening class
Eligibility: For each class, about 10 foreign residents who live or work in Shinagawa (in order of payment)
Tuition: ¥7,000 per course (textbook fee included)
2. Ikebana (Flower Arranging) Class (total of 12 classes)
This is an event in which Japanese and foreign residents can have friendly exchanges.
Dates: Fridays, from September 17 through December 3, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Location: Small and Medium Enterprises’ Center (1-28-3 Nishi-Shinagawa)
Eligibility: 12 foreign and 8 Japanese residents who live or work in Shinagawa (selected by lottery)
Tuition: ¥14,000
Application deadline: August 18 (Wed.) (must be received by this date)
For the Above-Mentioned Classes
Application: Fill out an application form on SIFA’s Web site or send a fax or postcard to SIFA (1-28-3 Nishi-Shinagawa, 141-0033; Tel: 5742-6517; Fax: 5742-6518; Web site: www.sifa.or.jp) by the deadline, if there is one. Please write down the name of the class you wish to join (for the Japanese-language class, include both the desired course and class) along with your address, postal code, name (with furigana), age, sex, and telephone number. Those who work in Shinagawa City should include the name, address, and telephone number of their places of employment. If you are a foreign resident, please include your nationality.
Note: Only one application per person is accepted.
