The 24th Shinagawa Disaster Prevention Fair

January 17 is the day the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake struck. Shinagawa City holds the Disaster Prevention Fair at this time of year. A variety of events are held in cooperation with various disaster prevention institutions. To prepare for an emergency, why not learn about disaster prevention while having fun?

January 18 (Fri.) 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
   
January 19 (Sat.) 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(Some events may be cancelled due to rain.)
 
Location Shinagawa City Office Disaster Prevention Center (2nd and 3rd floors), Parking Lot No. 2, and Shinagawa Chuo Park
 

18 (Fri.)

  • Opening—10:00 a.m.
  • Citizens fire brigade and minipump brigade appreciation award ceremony
 

19 (Sat.)

  • Serving of tempura udon (noodles)—¥100 per dish; capacity: 350 servings
  • Hyperrescue brigade demonstration—from 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  • Dog training class by the Tokyo Veterinary Medical Association, Shinagawa Branch Office—from 11:00 a.m.
  • Traditional fire brigade demonstrations (kiyari (working song), matoifuri (banner-waving), and ladder-climbing by the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association, Shinagawa Matoi Conservation Association—from 12 noon
  • Rescue demonstration by mobile rescue teams and police dogs—from 12:30 p.m.
  • Exhibition of such vehicles as a superambulance (special ambulance)
    (The vehicles may not be available for the exhibition if there is an emergency.)
 

18 (Fri.) and 19 (Sat.)

  • Mini-fire truck ride
  • Police motorcycle exhibition
  • Hands-on experience: Using the 171 disaster message service
  • Mediation for the purchase of disaster prevention supplies
  • Disaster prevention “stamp rally”
