The 17th “Traditional Crafts and Tastes of Shinagawa” Exhibition

Traditional Crafts Artisans who have preserved the traditional crafts and cooking of the Shinagawa area demonstrate their superior skills once a year. This year, there will be stories about mounting and Japanese comic story telling.

Date and time: January 27 (Sat.) and 28 (Sun.), from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Event Hall, Curian 7F (in front of Oimachi Station)
Exhibition features: Demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking by artisans
Craft demonstrations: Tegaki uzen (hand painted yuzen), reed screen / broom making, ukiyo-e printing, Buddhist sculpture, “Edo-Kiriko” (Edo glass-cutting), wood lathe work, antique repairing, mounting, shamisen, kimono dress-making, crest design, dyeing, making cosmetic metal scissors, Tokyo paulownia wood chest carving, Tokyo silverwork, lacquerware, textile work using plants as dye, obi making, paper lantern calligraphy, wire netting and Japanese fishing rods.
Cooking demonstrations: Japanese sweets, fish cakes, rice crackers, candy, tea, soba and shellfish boiled in sweet soy sauce, etc.
