For Collection of Large-sized Waste, Contact Shinagawa City Large-sized Waste Reception Center

Application is necessary for the collection of large-sized waste, such as furniture and bedding. The application procedures for large-sized waste are as follows.
*“Large-sized Waste” refers to large items that are household garbage and one side of which is more than about 30 cm in length.
*Items used in companies or offices are not collected under this system.

Procedures for Application and Collection of Large-sized Waste

1. Apply for Collection

Have paper and pencil handy when you call the Shinagawa City Large-Sized Waste Reception Center. They will inform you of the collection date, handling fee, where you can purchase the Yuryo Sodai Gomi Shori-ken (Large-sized Waste Processing Ticket) and how to dispose of your large-sized waste item.
Reception Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
*Closed on Sundays and during the year-end/New Year holidays (December 29 through January 3).
Via the Internet (Input in Japanese only)

Please access the website (http://www2.city.shinagawa.tokyo.jp/sodai/). You will be informed of the collection date, etc., via e-mail within four days. There is a link to this site on the Shinagawa City website.
*Those who applied between December 28 to January 3 will be notified by January 8.
*If you are exempt from or are eligible for a deduction of service charges, please apply by telephone.

2. Purchase the Yuryo Sodai Gomi Shori-ken (Large-sized Waste Processing Ticket)

Please purchase the Yuryo Sodai Gomi Shori-ken (Large-sized Waste Processing Ticket) at a handling agency in the city.

3. Dispose of Your Large-sized Waste Item on the Designated Day

Attach a waste processing ticket to each item and take the item(s) to the designated location (where collection can be carried out easily, such as in front of detached houses or near the ground-floor entrance of apartments and condominiums) by 8:00 a.m. on the collection day specified at the time of application.
*Collection of large-sized waste is conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*Since more people use this service at the end of the year, please apply well in advance.


Items That are Not Collected
Electric Appliances
For the collection of TVs (braun tube), refrigerators (freezers), laundry machines and air conditioners, please ask the store where you are buying a replacement, the original store of purchase or the Home Electric Appliance Recycling Reception Center (Tel: 5296-7200) to handle your used item.

Personal Computers
Please ask the manufacturer to collect your used item. You can find out about collection fees and the service desk of each manufacturer on the website of PC 3R Promotion Center (Tel: 5282-7685; http://www.pc3r.jp/e/index.html) and other organizations.


Wait a Moment! Before You Dispose of Large-sized Waste!
Is your furniture clean and still usable? Recycling Shop “Ribbon” in Oimachi, collects and sells used furniture on a contract basis.

*Closed on Wednesdays.
* Registration and reservations are required if you would like to display items (you must be 18 years of age or older).

You can also give away your furniture, etc. by putting an add in “Kuru Kuru,” a recycling magazine, issued on the 1st of every month.
