Why Not Visit One Hundred Scenes of Shinagawa? – The Waterfront - Part 7 -

In this issue, let’s go to the Waterfront. Why not step out with your children or friends during the summer vacation and enjoy the sea breeze. The Waterfront is an area you can enjoy in various ways.

Museum of Maritime Science (3-1 Higashi-Yashio)

Although this museum is located in the Daiba area, it is within Shinagawa. Although there are various ways to get there, such as using the “Yurikamome” monorail or taking the bus across Rainbow Bridge, why not take the waterbus from Shinagawa Aquarium (3-2-1 Katsushima). The boat ride is 25 minutes from Shinagawa Aquarium.
This science museum has a unique exterior modeled after a 60,000-ton cruiser. It is a facility where you can have fun while learning about boats and the sea. Nearby is the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, where there are exhibits on the latest scientific technology that are fun and easy to understand.

View from the Museum of Maritime Science

Upon arrival at the Museum of Maritime Science, go up the main building to the observation tower. From the observation deck, which is 70 meters above sea level, you can see Haneda Airport and all kinds of boats going back and forth around Tokyo Port. The view spans 360 degrees, meaning you can see all of Tokyo Port, Tokyo Waterfront City and the streets of Tokyo. And beyond that, in the distance, you can see Mt. Fuji and the Tanzawa Sankei Mountains.

Tennozu Baseball Park and Night Games (2-5/6 Higashi-Shinagawa)

Now let’s cross the ocean by train. Take the Rinkai Line from Tokyo Teleport Station and ride for about three minutes. Get off at Tennozu Isle Station. The area has such a fashionable and refined atmosphere that it is often used as a location for filming TV dramas.
Tennozu Baseball Park is a baseball field that is popular with city residents. In 1979, lights were installed at the ball park and in March 1994, artificial grass completely transformed the park. Soccer can also be played using two baseball fields in the park.
